With over 25 years of clinical experience, Datuk Dr. Azlan is a Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Clinical Director of Electrophysiology and Implantable Devices at the esteemed Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Malaysia’s premier heart specialist institution. His journey as an interventional electrophysiologist has been marked by pioneering work in the field and a steadfast commitment to providing top-notch care to patients.

Datuk Dr. Azlan’s passion lies in the intricate field of electrophysiology. With a focus on the whole range of cardiac rhythm abnormality management and more, he has carved a niche as a leading expert in the management of cardiac rhythm disorders. Electrophysiology studies, the whole gamut of atrial and ventricular ablation electrophysiologic procedures, prevention of rhythm related stroke, implantation of pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, and loop recorders, along with cardiac resynchronisation therapy, are among the vital procedures under his purview.

His expertise extends to the management of inherited cardiac disorders, such as long QT syndrome and brugada syndrome, as well as caring for patients at risk of sudden cardiac death. He is also intimately involved in the interventional management of abnormal cardiac rhythm abnormalities in the paediatric as well as patients with complex congenital heart abnormalities.

Datuk Dr. Azlan’s medical journey began in Malaysia, where he completed his primary medical education at the University of Malaya. He further honed his skills and expertise, earning his electrophysiology stripes from the prestigious Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. This extensive training and exposure have equipped him with the knowledge and prowess to tackle complex cardiac cases and provide world-class patient care.
